Vegetarian Stir Fry Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for a gluten-free option)

  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable broth or water

  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or brown sugar

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

Vegetarian stir fry sauce

  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, vegetable broth (or water), maple syrup (or brown sugar), minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil until well combined.

  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix in cornstarch to the sauce mixture. To do this, dissolve the cornstarch in a tablespoon of water first, then add it to the sauce mixture and whisk until smooth.

  • Taste the sauce and adjust the sweetness or saltiness according to your preference by adding more maple syrup or soy sauce if needed.

  • Once your stir fry is nearly cooked, pour the sauce over the vegetables, tofu/meat in the pan.

  • Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the vegetables evenly.

  • Serve your vegetarian stir fry with rice or noodles and enjoy your flavorful and savory dish!
